Sponsored Bike Ride at Humberside International Airport 2012

The bike ride on the runway at Humberside International Airport was initiated by Helen Cherry, Cavelle's mum, as a way to raise money for the proposed trip for 4 pupils to go to the Sagadou School in Burkina Faso.

Twenty pupils and their parents turned up and sped up and down the runway from 10:00 until 11.30pm on a chilly March evening - most of them frozen to death. They were accompanied by teachers and TA's from FGS.

The airport staff were superb and the event was so successful that the Fire Chief has offered us the opportunity to do another one in the summer, around the longest day when it will be much warmer and there will be daylight!

As yet we can only estimate how much money has been raised but it is at least £600 and probably closer to £1000.
